Coconut Oil
Feeding and using Coconut Oil is very beneficial to your mini pig. By feeding them a small amount it helps keep their skin and coat skinny and healthy. You can al rub a little on them to keep their skin from drying out (similar to baby oil or lotion).
Relaxing in the sun!
Mini Pigs love to sun bathe (but they can sunburn) and it's funny to watch them just lay in the sun:)

How to pick up a Mini Pig
Pigs don't like to be picked up like you would a dog or cat. You need to make sure their feet are secure and not dangling...it scares them. They like to always have them supported and feel supported.
Sheldon loves to be held and he's very affectionate. I had always heard pigs aren't affectionate and they don't like to be held but, he loves it. In fact he's always wanting in my lap or for me to hold him. He's like a little baby!
Sheldon and the stairs
Sheldon has finally mastered the stairs on our porch. It has taken him awhile to finally be big enough to go up and down these stairs. He is now 6 weeks old. He still can't do the basement stairs though. It's kind of funny to watch him go up them.
Pig in a Blanket
I know I couldn't resist...who doesn't love a pig in a blanket?! Sheldon loves his blankets and he loves to be cover up when he sleeps.
It's funny because I've had people over and they never knew that he was under the blanket until it starts to move a little...a fun trick to play on your family and friends:)

Sheldon has been mainly eating cheerios and his mini pig food. I decided to let him try cauliflower to see if he liked it. I think it was a great hit. Pigs eating are funny...

Rolling a Ball
Started working on training Sheldon to roll a ball. We haven't mastered it yet but we will get it soon, lol. It's definitely entertaining...
Sheldon's New Harness
Finally found Sheldon a new harness that fits good enough to start teaching him to walk while on a leash. He seems to be be doing ok with it so far.

Bathe Time
Giving a mini pig a bath can be interesting to say the least. I have learned a lot over the past few weeks and feel like I'm getting better at it. This may not be the best way to give him a bath but it works, lol! Of course as he gets bigger we will have to change how and what we do.
The first video shows him getting his bath and the second one shows him getting his baby oil put on him. Pigs get dry skin so it's important to keep baby oil or oil on them. Lots of different options on what to use but it needs to be for sensitive skin - something you'd put on a baby.

Rainy Day Fun
So in the spirit of "The Big Bang Theory", we had to get Sheldon a ball pit. He cracks me up and I think he likes it.
The top questions that I get asked?!
Most people ask the same top questions so I thought I'd share what I know so far:
How BIG will he get?
- 25-30 lbs. (about the size of a beagle or english bulldog) ONLY if you don't overfeed them. Pigs must be fed correctly. Never leave food out because they don't have anything that tells them to stop eating they're full. They will eat and eat even when they really don't need it.
What do you feed him?
- Mini pig pellets (no table scraps) Mazuri brand for mini pigs
- Cheerios for a treat or snack
NOTE: See my feeding video to learn more
Where does he go to the bathroom at?
-I have taught him to go outside to the bathroom. It took me about 1-2 weeks to get him fully trained but now he goes outside. He was a lot easier than a dog to train and we only had about 3-4 accidents inside. He has a designated spot he goes to and that makes it so nice. No one stepping in poop, lol.
- Yes, you can train them to use a litter box or puppy pad, too. I just didn't want to clean up the mess.
Does he sleep through the night?
- Since day 1 that I got him, he has slept through the night. No issues at all. He goes to bed and sleeps until the morning.
- He loves having a blanket and to be covered up (head to toe). Make sure it's not cold where he sleeps, they love to be warm. I have a blanket in his house and I also cover up his crate at night. He seems to like that better and the light from outside in the morning doesn't wake him up so early.

Belly Rub
I think he thinks he's a dog sometimes, lol! He even barks at me on occasion. Always loves his belly rubbed. He definitely is a little baby at times.
The "CLICKER"
We got a new CLICKER to make training a lot easier and more consistent. It works fabulous and I love it. Now anyone in my family can use it and he will listen to them too. He was getting to where he would only listen to my voice since I was the one training. I told you he/they are smart:)
What is he eating --- learning that a PIG loves food, LOL!
Mini Pigs are no different from regular pigs in regards to they love to eat. They are constantly looking for food. The biggest thing is to have everything measured and limited on what you feed them. They don't have to have a lot to be healthy and happy.
Right now I feed him twice a day and 1/8 cup at each feeding. I give him snacks and treats but I never overdo it.
I broke his feeding video up because it was easier to see how I feed him. I hope this will help you to better understand how I feed him. Of course as he gets older, the amount and type of food will change.

Rooting and Cheerios
One of Sheldon's favorite snacks is "Cheerios" and he goes crazy for them. These are usually given as a treat for doing a trick or learning a new task.
Training Sheldon
Sheldon learning how to come when he here's a clicking noise. Still a work in progress but he's getting better and he has learned very fast.
Sheldon - Why a Mini Pig?!
After lots of research, etc... I decided to get a mini pig! I know a lot of people of asked WHY A PIG? are you crazy?! get a dog or cat. Well maybe I am crazy, but that's not the reason I got a pig.
I have sisters and other family members that are highly allergic to dogs, cats, horses, cows, etc... I had read where pigs are hypo-allergenic. My first thought was yeh-yeh-yeh...heard that one before. Well come to find out my sister wasn't allergic. So I decided to get one. Trust me this decision was not made in hast and has taken me a long time to do. So now we have both our family and a pet in our lives.
After I got him, I had so many people asking me a billion questions about him. The same kind of questions I asked myself and researched to death. As we all know when you research things, you really have a hard time getting the true sense of what it's like. So I decided to start a blog that shows what it's really like...good, bad, funny, etc...
I hope you enjoy "Sheldon's Adventures" and if you do or don't decide to get a mini pig, at least you will get some great stories about Sheldon along the way.
